Bremerton Memorial Stadium
(Next to Bremerton High School off Ohio Street between 15th and 17th St)
“Let’s Put the Memorial in Memorial Stadium”
The Bremerton High Student Body of 1946-1947 raised the money to build a fitting memorial for the veterans of WWII…Memorial Stadium. Today, the Path of Freedom will expand the project started sixty years ago by creating a personalized Kitsap County veterans’ memorial and flag plaza within Memorial Stadium. There is no other veterans’ park like this in the county.
“For Those Who Have Given Life, Limb, and Soul,
So We Might Enjoy Our Freedom”
The names of all those from Kitsap County who made the supreme sacrifice during WWI, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, the Gulf War, and Iraq will be engraved on the top of the crescent in the flag plaza. You may commemorate yourself, your family, and your friends by purchasing inscriptions on the walking tiles within the park area.
The Bremerton area has been a focal point in the deeply rooted military history of our Puget Sound region for so many reasons. Our organization, named in memory of legendary teacher/coach Chuck Semancik, a WWII veteran (USN), seeks to preserve the memories of this rich history. The park will become a source of community pride and a place to memorialize those who gave their lives, limbs, and souls in the interest of our freedom.
